I would like to ask you some questions about winter hikes in the Lofoten islands. We go there in mid March and we are mainly interested about photography. As it is one of the most beautiful places in Lofoten, we think about hike to Ryten. Do you have any experience with this hike in winter? I would be also very thankful for all tips or advices about other possible hikes in this time. Thank you guys!
The summit of Ryten (close to Kvalvika beach) is possible to access in winter, but, if there is snow (and the chances are great at that season) you will need snowshoes to get there easily. Generally, you will need snowshoes at this season and even some times small crampons to cross icy parts of the trail. You can find this small logo on all the walks which can be hike without too much difficulty in winter.
You should always keep an eye open on the weather forecast on that site yr.no
keep safe and have nice walks
