First of all, thank you for being the first posting on this new Forum.

Yes the starting point is the town of Svolvær (on Austvågøya Island– in the North part of the Lofotens) and the finishing point will be the small harbor of Moskenes (on Moskenesøya Island – in the South).

Reaching the starting point of the trek on the 1st of July:

To get from Oslo to Bodø, you will have to stop or transit through the city of Bodø.

Step 1: From OSLO to BODO

1 - SAS ( flysas.com ) and Norwegian ( norwegian.com ) are the two companies flying every day from Oslo to Bodø, you can check their website to find and book the flight.

2 - If you have time, you can also take the train from Oslo to Bodø. Bodø is the end stop of the train in North Norway. You can buy your ticket online on the official website of the company www.nsb.no . The trip takes nearly 17 hours but you will see beautiful landscapes. It is not possible to book a ticket for July yet, the website only allows you to book tickets for the 4 coming months. In any case, if you book your ticket in April you should be able to get a nice offer (around 90€).

Step 2: From BODO to SVOLVAER

1- The quickest is to fly all the way to your final destination from Oslo with a stop in Bodø. A small Norwegian company called Wideroe (from Bodø to Svolvaer) will operate the last part of the trip. Wideroe is a subsidiary company of SAS, so if you choose SAS from Oslo, it is possible to book the complete trip all the way to Svolvær on their website. If not, you have to book through www.wideroe.no
This solution is the quickest (25 min) but also often the most expensive.
The flight Bodø -Svolvær costs between 90€ and 120€.

2 - From Bodø you can also take a fast boat (Hurtigbaaten) to Svolvær from the city center of Bodo ( view boat schedule here – the schedule for 2019 is not available yet, but there should not be any changes for next summer).
The 1st of July is a Monday. On Mondays the fast boat starts leaves Bodø at 17h25 and arrive in Svolvær at 20h50. If you arrive from Oslo the same day, it means that your plane should arrive in Bodø no later then 16:00 (4:00 p.m.). The fast boat from Bodø to Svolvaer costs approximately 65€/pers.


Other possibility:
It is also possible to fly from Oslo to Evenes and take the public bus from Evenes to Svolvær. You will find bus shedule here .

Leaving from Moskenes

The trek will end in the afternoon on the 14th of July (a Sunday)

1 - The quickest solution will be to take the bus from Moskenes to Leknes and then to take a plane to Bodø. From Bodø you will change plane and fly back to Oslo and further.
You will find bus schedule from Moskenes to Leknes and Svolvær.

2 - You can also take a ferry from Moskenes to Bodø ( see timetable here ), in July there is up to 5 ferries a day from Moskenes. The ferry is cheap (approximately 24€/pers.) and the crossing takes 3hrs15min. Then from Bodø you can ever take the plane back to Oslo or the train.

3 - If your plane leaves from Evenes, it is possible to take a bus from Moskenes, which will bring you to Evenes in approximately 5 hours. See schedule for the Moskenes/Evenes bus .

Personally, I usually take the plane to Bodø and the boat to the Lofoten, it is a bit slower then the plane all the way but it is beautiful and I can get bored of it ☺

Pour aller d’Oslo à Bodø, vous devrez vous arrêter ou passer par la ville de Bodø.

Étape 1: D'OSLO à BODO

2 - Si vous avez le temps, vous pouvez également prendre le train d'Oslo à Bodø. Bodø est le terminus du train dans le nord de la Norvège. Vous pouvez acheter votre billet en ligne sur le site officiel de la société www.nsb.no . Le trajet dure près de 17 heures mais vous verrez des paysages magnifiques. Il n’est pas possible de réserver un billet pour juillet, le site ne vous permet de réserver des billets que pour les 4 prochains mois. Dans tous les cas, si vous réservez votre billet en avril, vous devriez pouvoir bénéficier d'une offre intéressante (environ 90 €).

Étape 2: de BODO à SVOLVAER

1- Le plus rapide est de voler jusqu’à votre destination finale depuis Oslo avec une escale à Bodø. Une petite société norvégienne appelée Wideroe (qui relie Bodø à Svolvaer) assurera la dernière partie du voyage. Wideroe est une filiale de SAS. Si vous choisissez SAS d’Oslo, vous pouvez réserver le voyage complet jusqu’à à Svolvær sur leur site. Si ce n'est pas le cas, vous devez réserver via www.wideroe.no . Cette solution est la plus rapide (25 min) mais aussi souvent la plus chère. Le vol Bodø -Svolvær coûte entre 90 € et 120 €.

2 - De Bodø, vous pouvez également prendre un bateau rapide (Hurtigbaaten) pour vous rendre à Svolvær depuis le centre-ville de Bodo, vous trouverez les horaire des bateaux ici - (les horaires pour 2019 ne sont pas encore disponibles, mais il ne devrait y avoir aucun changement pour l'été prochain).

Le 1er juillet est un lundi. Le lundi, le bateau rapide part de Bodø à 17h25 et arrive à Svolvær à 20h50. Si vous arrivez d’Oslo le même jour, cela signifie que votre avion doit arriver à Bodø au plus tard à 16h00. Le bateau rapide de Bodø à Svolvaer coûte environ 65 € / pers.

Repartir de Moskenes

Le trek se terminera dans l'après-midi du 14 juillet (un dimanche)

1 - La solution la plus rapide sera de prendre le bus de Moskenes à Leknes, puis de prendre un avion pour Bodø. De Bodø, vous changerez d'avion pour Oslo.

2 - Vous pouvez également prendre un ferry de Moskenes à Bodø ( voir les horaires du ferry ici ). En juillet, il y a jusqu'à 5 départs par jour au départ de Moskenes. Le ferry est bon marché (environ 24 € / pers.) et la traversée dure 3h15. Ensuite, de Bodø, vous pourrez prendre l'avion pour Oslo ou le train.

3 - Si votre avion quitte Evenes, il est possible de prendre un bus depuis Moskenes, qui vous conduira à Evenes en 5 heures environ. Voir l'horaire pour le bus Moskenes / Evenes .

Looks like I can figure out how to get to Oslo but then what advice do you have. Where is the starting point. Is it Svolvær? What is the best way to get from Oslo to Svolvær and what timeframe should we be looking at?
