This hike begins in the isolated hamlet of Myrland (literally “peatland”) in the extreme north of the island of Flakstad and end in the village of Vikten via several valleys and a series of passes.
Once in Myrland take the first tarmacked road on your left. The trail begins behind a farm at the end of the path and heads south-west (N68 09.640 E13 22.071). You pass a small lake before the trail climbs gradually to Lake Storvatnet. Walk the length of Lake Storvatnet on the left shore to the bottom of the valley and then climb to the pass at 340m altitude. Once you reach this first beautiful viewpoint, head to the right where you will come to a second pass called Jofinnskardet (480m). Go back down on the other side of the pass along the path at the bottom of the valley then head left and meet up with the shoulder that goes down to the plateau. When you reach the plateau, head north-east and follow the trail that climbs to the narrow pass between Tindliheia and Middagstinden. From then on the path is more clearly marked and you can easily get to Lake Gauktindvatnet on the other side of the pass. Go around the lake on the right-hand shore before you finally head down towards the village of Vikten.
