A fine hike through a varied landscape. Leaving Ballstad, the path winds around a number of tiny lakes before taking you towards the valley of Kyllingdalen. You then walk through a pinewood straight out of “Hansel and Gretel”.
At the western end of Lake Kyllingdalen, climb up the valley that runs between the peaks of Trolltindan and Breidtinden.
From here you will reach a pass from which you can admire the stretch of sea known as Nappstraumen that runs between the islands. To your left take one of the many sheep tracks that climb the up to the summit of Breidtinden.
From the top there is a fine view over the plain of Leknes and Vestfjord. If you are in luck you may catch sight of the fish eagles that live on the cliffs. Return taking the same route.
