When the weather is clear you get undoubtedly the best view of the south of the islands from the top of Munkan. This route is very popular with the inhabitants of the islands and, what is rare in the Lofoten Islands, there is a real path to the top.
This path takes you through very different landscapes starting virtually at sea level and ending in landscapes worthy of the highest mountains. Once at the top, which is only 775 m high, you feel as though you are on the roof of the world and the 360° view is extraordinary.
You take the same path to go down with a possible variant starting at GPS point long: 13° 0" 44" - lat: 67° 55" 18". By taking the left-hand path you can walk around the peak of Merraflestinden and return to your starting-point via the magnificent ridge of Kjølen.
