Hiker looking at the town of Svolvær in the Lofoten
Description

This slender peak faces the summit of Tjeldbergtinden. It is higher than Tjeldbergtinden and gives you a remarkable panorama over the town of Svolvær and the northern part of Vågan Island. You make the ascent on a good trail over a straight ridge line—sometimes dizzying, but not dangerous when the ground is dry.

The trail begins to the right of the unpaved Kongsmarka road, in the bend that goes around the northeast tip of Litl-Kongsvatnet Lake. Its course follows the electric line for about a hundred yards before it turns towards the left to go up the east shoulder of the mountain.

Then you’ll have to go through the first rocky passages. They’ll give you an idea of how difficult the hike’s going to be.
In a few places, you’ll see the beginning of trails along your right; keep on the leftmost trail that follows the ridge of the mountain. Toward 200 m (656 ft) of altitude, you’ll reach a little plateau with two tiny lakes on it.

From this point, you already have a lovely point of view over the town of Svolvær. At roughly 380 m (1,247 ft) of altitude, you go onto a first, nameless summit with a red and white post on it, crowned with a shovel (N68° 14.793' E14° 30.671').

In the next part, the trail follows the ridge, which grows narrower as you climb, with a few passages near a sheer drop (e.g. N68° 14.828' E14° 30.106') and other passages where you’ll have to use your arms to hoist yourself onto big blocks of stone. Finally, you’ll reach the reward for your efforts: the Kongstindan summit and its impressive panorama over Vågan Island.
For those of you who might be tempted to keep hiking to the summit of Løva (640 m: 2,100 ft), you need to know that even if it looks like a thin trail is leading to it, the ascent on this trail is no longer a job for hikers but for experienced mountain climbers.

Go back the same way. You’ll have magnificent views over the different lakes and the town of Svolvær down below.
